Everyone is aware of how damaging an inflated ego is, and let’s face it, everyone, including you, has allowed your ego to get into the way of so many things. What if you can spend time on self-reflection to keep your ego in check if there was a day where you can spend time on self-reflection? There is a day like that, which is World Ego Awareness Day.
May 11th is the day to keep your ego in check because it is World Ego Awareness Day. The thing is, everyone needs an ego for protection. Your ego is meant to keep you safe from harm, and it also is intended to help you keep those away who are only going to harm you. What about those who do allow others to walk on them? Do they not have an ego? Everyone does. However, in that case, that boils down to belief, and if someone believes that they deserve to be taken advantage of, sadly, that happens. Their ego does also get into the way of that too because that plays a role in them having a martyr complex or being in the victim mode.
Therefore, you want to use your ego in a healthy way where you are confident and keeping yourself safe from harm’s way. However, the problem is that an inflated ego is what causes arrogance. Arrogance causes you to miss out on essential things, and that can cost you some friends. Therefore, to get your ego to a healthy level is to do plenty of self-reflection. Therefore, take this day to meditate and do some heavy self-introspection and examine where your ego gets into the way of aspects of your life.
The History Of World Ego Awareness Day
The establishment of World Ego Awareness Day happened in 2018 to make people understand how an inflated or out-of-control ego can result from abuse, lack of empathy, both inferiority and superiority complexes, sexism, and internal conflicts. That is a significant problem that has gone on for centuries and, if not longer. Therefore, the day’s point is to teach people how to be humble, self-reflective, and empathetic to help them keep their egos in check. The national day is new, but it is necessary for everyone to allow their ego to get out of hand.
How To Celebrate World Ego Awareness Day
The best thing to do is to get very honest with yourself and see where your ego is getting into the way of you achieving what you can achieve, and how it played a role in your relationships. There are likely plenty of virtual events to attend for this day, and whatever you do decide to do for it – if you want to share it on social media, use #WorldEgoAwarenessDay in ths post.
