Top Gun Day

Did you ever watch the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun that came out in 1986? That was the 11th highest-grossing movie for Tom Cruise as it was a huge success. However, the film’s message is the importance of teamwork, so there is a day dedicated to the movie. That is Top Gun Day.

May 13 is the day to take teamwork seriously as it is Top Gun Day. The 1986 movie’s plot was about a hotshot pilot that went to the US Navy’s Fighter Weapons school. When the school was built in 1969, the US lost over 1,000 aircraft in Vietnam, and the belief for that was a mechanical issue getting into the way. Or, it was possible that the pilots were not appropriately trained to fly, which was behind the disappearance of the aircraft, which was the likely reason. The Air Force knew that new technology would prevent that from happening, which was the reason for establishing the school.

That is just a brief synopsis of the movie, but the day represents teamwork to overcome difficulties and adversity. It is all about having a winning attitude when you are faced with challenges which is why you would want to work in teams. That is why the military had established a new school with new technology to prevent the tragic loss of aircraft in the future. You cannot come up with these solutions on your own, and you also need to rely on a team to help keep you strong during difficult times.

The History Of Top Gun Day

The irony is that Top Gun came out in theatres on May 16th, 1986. However, the establishment of the day happened in 2011 because of being its 25th anniversary of the movie, and it happened to start on the 13h since it landed on a Friday of that year. May 16th, 1986 was on a Friday. However, to make the anniversary day exact, it happened to fall on the 13th. Therefore, the day is to celebrate the movie since the 25th anniversary of a popular movie is always a big deal. However, the message behind the day is to keep your attitude positive during hard times and rely on teamwork to work through solutions.
