You no longer have to take your clothing that needs sewing to tailors unless it is a specific piece of clothing that needs professional work; however, in most cases, that is not necessary because you have a sewing machine that will take care of all of that for you. You will want to acknowledge that on Sewing Machine Day.
June 13th is the day to celebrate your sewing machine as it is Sewing Machine Day. The sewing machine has been one of the greatest inventions of all time. People now have the convenience of sewing clothing in the comfort of their homes without having to run over to the tailor to do the job. Not only that, but it is so easy to work with that you do not have to be a seamstress to do the job. Before sewing machines, you had no choice but to take your clothing to be sewn to tailors and sewists as they did the job by hand.
That was not convenient to do because quite often you had to wait a while to pick up your clothing. That was especially if they were behind with other sewing tasks. Again, sometimes you do need to take some clothing to the tailor if it sewing needs to be done in a specific way. For instance, when it comes to fancy clothing such as elegant dresses or tuxedos, you need a professional to stitch up the clothing. However, for casual everyday clothing, you can do your stitching by using one of the greatest inventions: the sewing machine.
The History Of Sewing Machine Day
The origin of Sewing Machine Day is not yet determined. However, the invention of the sewing machine has a story as a skilled cabinet maker was the one who invented this amazing machine with the name of Thomas Saint in 1790. He also received the patent that year, and the design was meant to stitch canvas and leather. However, because of a lack of advertising, there wasn’t any evidence that he designed it because nothing was found other than his drawings. However, in 1874, William Newton discovered the drawings and he ended up building a model that works by making some adjustments. You will see that model in the London Science Museum.
How To Acknowledge Sewing Machine Day
Why not show off your sewing skills and sew something that you have, even if it is a random piece of fabric. You can also show a picture of fabric sewn that you like a lot, and do that on social media by using #SewingMachineDay in the post.
