National Superhero Day

When you think of a superhero, what immediately comes to your mind? Is it Batman, Superman, Spiderman, or someone who you look up to, whether you know them or not? Maybe you consider a friend as a superhero while going through a difficult time and is still standing. Either way, this is the day to acknowledge all of them as it is National Superhero Day.

April 28th is the day to look up to all of the superheroes around, whether they are fictional or they are those who you know because it is National Superhero Day. What defines a superhero? You may have your personal definition of one. However, a superhero is someone who pushes through and saves others amid adversity. A superhero is someone who makes a positive difference in the world despite going through hardships. Or maybe, it is someone who puts their life on the line to save others despite their personal history. There are broad definitions of superheroes.

You can picture fictional ones from Marvel Comics, or you can think about those on the frontlines saving lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can think of firefighters that put out the most dangerous fires or save a family during a housefire. Superheros don’t necessarily have to cause physical actions such as those. You can think of a superhero who has given you a reason to keep going even while you are in the midst of wanting to quit. A superhero can be there to save someone’s life who is in the depths of despair. While people see the world as evil, there is also a lot of good and many are superheroes.

The History Of National Superhero Day

Marvel Comics established National Superhero Day on April 28th, 1995, to create a day where people can celebrate their superheroes. When you think of Marvel Comics, you will think of fictional superheroes such as Thor, Spiderman, Captain Marvel, and so on. However, Marvel Comics encourages others to celebrate other superheroes established by DC Comics, such as Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman, and so on. At least one day of the year, there is to celebrate those who have made a life-changing positive difference for people, and that is on National Superhero Day.
