National Puppy Day

Puppies! What is the first thing you think of when you imagine cute little puppies running around? They are the best furballs of love and will make you feel better no matter what kind of difficult day you are having! That is why these sweet animals need a day to celebrate their goodness, which is why there is National Puppy Day.

March 23rd is all about celebrating puppies since it is National Puppy Day. These animals are amazing; therefore they need the celebration and so much doting in the world. However, this day is not only around to celebrate the amazing traits of puppies, as it is meant to raise awareness about puppy mills and how puppies are treated poorly there. They are crammed into small areas in those puppy mills, and they are not given the attention they need, and those experiences can be so traumatic to them.

One good thing that has happened is that pet shops in many places around the world no longer sell puppies because those dogs were raised in puppy mills. Not to mention it is cruel to keep them in small cages as they have been in the past at pet stores. Unfortunately, puppy mills still exist, and to this day is important to raise awareness about them so they can eventually be shut down.

If you want to adopt a puppy, go to a reputable breeder or even a friend who has a pregnant dog. These puppies need love and need families to care for them. And you will need their love too because they are so good for your heart and soul.

History Of National Puppy Day

The pet lifestyle expert, author, and animal behaviorist, Colleen Paige wanted to bring out awareness about puppy mills as she hoped to bring an end to them. Therefore, in 2006 is when she established National Puppy Day on this day, and she is also the one who founded National Cat Day and National Dog Day. She is passionate about these pets and wants to encourage those who want to adopt a pet to do so and to provide them loving and nurturing homes. She has done a good job with bringing out the awareness of puppy mills since they are quite traumatic to dogs.

How To Celebrate National Puppy Day

Do you have a dog, whether your dog is a puppy or a senior, give him or her plenty of love and attention – which you should do daily. Why not take plenty of pictures of your pooch, and share them on social media by using the hashtag #NationalPuppyDay. If you don’t have a dog or have plans to get one, why not send a donation to the International Humane Society, or to local ones!
