National Pet Day

Have you given your pet ample attention today? Did you walk your dog? Did you give your cat a small piece of catnip? And did you cuddle with your pet rabbit? You will give your pets extra attention every day, but there is one day to make the day about National Pet Day.

April 11th is the day that urges pet owners to give extra love and care to their pets, as it is National Pet Day. There are so many benefits to having pets, whether you have a dog, cat, or hamster, or any pet. Animals bring you so much love, and studies have found that people who own pets have better cardiovascular health as pets can help reduce stress.

The day is also meant to help pet owners out who are ill and unable to give their pets attention. Therefore, if you know of someone recovering from an accident or going through chemotherapy treatments with a dog or a cat, you will want to offer to help them out. Perhaps give the cat some cuddles, or take their dog for a walk. You may also want to consider adopting a pet if you are not a pet owner and have a plan to be one. Pet shelters will be busy on National Pet Day for this reason. Because there are so many benefits to owning pets, that is why there is a day dedicated to this, and why not give your pet the extra attention it deserves as well? Let’s find out how Pet Day started.

History Of National Pet Day

The Animal Welfare advocate, Colleen Page, is passionate about pets and wanted to dedicate a day to bring extra attention to the fact that pets bring so much joy into pet owners’ lives. Therefore, she has always been a massive advocate of animals from shelters being adopted and wanted to bring extra awareness of how important it is to ‘adopt and not shop.’ Therefore, in 2006, Page established National Pet Day to get the well-deserved recognition that they deserve. April 11th is designated as the day to observe anything to do with pets is unknown. All you can do on this day is realize the importance of pets and their roles.
