National May Ray Day

Your mood brightens as the sun beings to shine, and you always feel a sense of relief when summer is on the horizon. What do you do when you want to bask in the sun’s rays? You get out there and spend time outdoors, and you will want to do that on National May Ray Day.

May 19th is when the sun shines (unless it rains or snows if you are in the Southern Hemisphere) as it is National May Ray Day. You may think this is a national day for guys named Ray, and maybe it is if they want to have a day dedicated to anyone named Ray! However, what the day represents is a day to get out there and enjoy being in the sun. You have been stuck inside all winter, and since April is a rainy month, you also did not have a chance to get out there to enjoy the day for that reason.

You can still deal with rain and chilly days in May, even in late May, but you are going to be seeing the sun out a lot more than that. Therefore, if you have been exercising indoors during the winter and early spring, this is the time to get outside and go for a brisk walk or a jog. Why not go and have a picnic with some friends and family in a park or even in your backyard. Whatever you do on this day, soak in the sun’s rays but don’t forget to add some sunscreen as the UV rays are not something you want to take in too much.

The History Of National May Ray Day

In the Northern Hemisphere, the time around mid to the end of May is when the seasons begin to take a sharp shift from winter, the cool part of spring, and then the warmer part of spring, which happens around May 19th – and that is the door that opens to summer. These seasons have changed this way since the beginning of time. It is not clear who started the national day and when it began. However, it is a time to celebrate the sun and its warmth since it is a great mood-lifter. You will also get a good dose of Vitamin D but be careful with the UV rays. Enjoy the rays as you wear sunscreen to keep you safe.

How To Celebrate National May Ray Day

That is an easy one as you will want to get out there to the sunny outdoors and take a walk. Maybe you can have a picnic or eat out on a patio whether it is at a restaurant or your backyard. Take plenty of pictures of being outdoors, and post it on social media by using #NationalMayRayDay in it.
