Don’t you notice how good you feel after you have a good laugh? And sometimes having a good laugh at something is what we need. After all, they say laughter is the best medicine. And there is a day that is all about chuckling to your heart’s content which is National Let’s Laugh Day.
March 19th is the day that urges you to have a good chuckle, and that is because it is National Let’s Laugh Day. Why is laughter such an important thing to incorporate into your life? That is because studies have shown that laughter can reduce stress and blood pressure, and it is also good for your immunity. Did you also know that laughing for 10 to 15 minutes can burn about 50 calories? If you want to get a good workout, then why not add laughter to it? But you will have to laugh for a long time, and that is why watching funny movies can really help you shed some pounds too.
However, be mindful of what you laugh at as well. It is great to laugh at comedies and humous reading materials, and funny videos. But it is not right to laugh at the expense of others. You may want to laugh if you see someone fall, but that may be at their expense. Perhaps they have a physical condition that causes them to lose their balance. Therefore, the point is, even though laughing is good for the soul, you want to make sure you are laughing at something that won’t cause harm to anyone else!
History Of National Let’s Laugh Day
There is not a known origin behind National Let’s Laugh Day. However, it is believed that the establishment behind the day happened on a day close to spring. That is when the weather is getting nicer and you have a reason to be happier after coming out of the long dark winter. That is the time when you will socialize and enjoy being in the company of others, and therefore, it is a perfect time to dedicate a day like this for laughter. And even though the seasons are the opposite in the southern hemisphere, it is celebrated worldwide anyway.
