National Fairy Day

What does the creature that gives you gifts after losing a tooth and Tinkerbell have in common? They are fairies and fairies have been popular in folklore, children’s stories, and fantasy films and novels. Children and adults seem to have an appreciation for them and you will want to appreciate them on National Fairy Day.

June 24th is the day to get into the fairy craze as it is National Fairy Day. Not only do you see these creatures in fantasy movies, and read about them in fantasy novels. However, you will see them on mugs, T-shirts, and there are fairy toys that young kids will enjoy playing with because they are captivating to kids. Fairies are great since they are mythological creatures and these creatures are good for promoting your imagination.

There are plenty of cultures that have fairies a part of them. However, they may have been called different names over the centuries since they have been around. You will also associate fairies with Disney as Disney movies include them such as the seven dwarves with Snow White. In the Irish Selkie, there are faes that live in the oceans, and in Scandinavian cultures, you have gnomes and various types of them. They are also common in German culture as these gnomes are known to work on mines and on mountains. Those particular ones were known as knockers as they would knock so they would allow miners to know that there could be impending danger around. Is there a chance that fairies are real? That is hard to say!

The History Of National Fairy Day

It is not known how National Fairy Day was established but it is safe to say that someone who has an appreciation for fairies established the day. Maybe it was a parent of a young child that loved fairies, or maybe it was someone who has very fond memories of their childhood and fairies were a large part of it. Either way, even though it is not known how the day started, it is a day to go wild with your imagination and also remember your favorite movies and books that involved fairies and why you enjoyed them too.
