National Cellophane Tape Day

How did you attach posters to your bedroom walls? Was it through thumbtacks or cellophane tape? You could do so much with that tape more than you can do with thumbtacks because you can tape notes and other things to your fridge and other areas of your home. This product must be recognized more than it is, which is why there is National Cellophane Tape Day.

May 27th is the day to celebrate the tape you use for various things, as National Cellophane Tape Day. That thin, sticky transparent tape has been around to help with so many things that go beyond sticking important notices, pictures, and other things to your fridge. You need that tape to wrap presents because you would not be able to wrap them with rubber bands or duct tape. The duct tape would ruin the appearance of the gift, which is why the cellophane tape would be saving that day for you. If you decide to use a gift bag instead, you could always tape the card envelope to the side of the bag, so it does not fall out.

Think about how this tape served you when you did some arts and crafts. If you have young kids, you would be using the tape to create crafts with them too. What about using the tape to create projects for school? That is also why this tape is so needed, as many school art or science projects require transparent tape. Do you see why there must be a celebration of the cellophane tape? It has added so much convenience to so many lives.

History Of National Cellophane Tape Day

There is no clear meaning behind the establishment of National Cellophane Tape Day. However, someone established the day because the invention of this tape has made so many lives easier. Cellophane tape is known as Scotch tape, too, and history started sometime during the 1930s. Inventor Richard Gurley Drew is the one who established this creation and used it to create a product to help people keep track of their items so they can stick notes on their walls. The product is also a common office stationery item. The usefulness of this tape will always stay even though you now find sticky notes that replace the need to use this tape.
