Do you remember that Aqua hit from 1997 ‘Barbie Girl‘? Why not play that song for old times sake and if you have old Barbie dolls that you kept, why not bring them out and put some clothes on them? And if you are a guy who is reading this, encourage the ladies in your life to do that! That is because it is National Barbie Day!
March 9th is the day when you want to acknowledge everything to do with the Barbie dolls because it is National Barbie Day. Why not go hunting for your old Barbie dolls and clothing, and if you are a guy, make this news known to the ladies in your life so they can do that. If you have at least one daughter, tell them the news. There are several reasons that Barbie is one of the most popular toys for girls and has been that way for a long time.
Barbie is there to help girls dream big as she has had a role of over 150 careers such as a scientist, business owner, and a Barbie that runs for president. In addition to that, Barbie is all about family as well, since there is a ken doll too. There have been many misconceptions around Barbie dolls as it was believed that the doll is not a good example for girls because of how she represents adult aspects that are too explicit for girls who are not even close to reaching puberty. However, that claim has been debunked, and the matter is, girls need to know about those things, too, anyway. Barbies and accessories are great toys for girls.
History Of National Barbie Day
The co-founder of Mattel, Ruth Handler, had a vision and one vision only. Handler wanted to help girls create visions for their futures which was her motivation for creating the Barbie doll. That was why in 1959, Barbie made itself known at the American International Toy Fair taking place in New York. Handler wanted to design the Barbie doll as having many career roles in inspiring girls to have aspirations for their futures. In addition to that, in 1961, the Ken doll became Barbie’s partner because girls did not want Barbie to be single anymore. Since then, Barbie has been evolving as in 1962; she had her dream house, then in 1968, she had her best friend Christie, a black doll, and so on!
How To Celebrate National Barbie Day
The obvious way to celebrate National Barbie Day is by grabbing your old Barbie dolls and playing with them for old time’s sake.
