There have been times when you accidentally called someone the wrong name or were becoming distracted by using your smartphone while walking – and then you walk right into a pole or tripping over something. Those are awkward moments that everyone has. And there is a day to acknowledge that being uncomfortable is part of the human experience, National Awkward Moments Day.
March 18th is the day when you acknowledge and happily accept that doing odd and uncomfortable things is expected since that is National Awkward Moments Day. When you have an awkward moment, such as doing things described above, you will feel quite embarrassed. Not only do you call someone the wrong name or bump into something when you are not watching where you are doing. However, you can accidentally say the wrong thing, and you could end up having Freudian slips, which is so awkward in itself. In fact, that may be one of the most embarrassing things you can do.
Other awkward things that can happen are when you are dealing with bodily functions. Think about yoga class as you are in a quiet studio while everyone is doing their yoga poses. Then all of a sudden, you let out a loud fart! Oh my, that is so awkward to the point that your face will turn red. Another awkward situation is if you are about to go on stage and the nerves are getting to you so much that you end up puking as soon as you begin speaking. A few musical artists have done that. Yeah, that is awkward, and the list can go on.
History Of National Awkward Moments Day
There is no known origin behind National Awkward Moments Day. However, there are speculations about how it may have started. Think about the fact that National Awkward Moments Day is the day after St. Patrick’s Day when that is the day when many people are drinking too much. The day after St. Patrick’s Day would be the day when so many people would be hungover and you can do so many awkward things just by being hungover. Or maybe you were saying embarrassing things in a drunken state and then the day after, you learn about those things you say. That would be quite awkward.
