International Day of Happiness

Do you remember that song by Bobby McFerrin, “Don’t Worry Be Happy“? That song brings out a message because it is essential to find happiness globally, especially during difficult times, whether during a global pandemic or other hardship. There is one day to focus on that, which is the International Day of Happiness.

March 20th is the day that encourages everyone to find happiness since it is the International Day of Happiness. Many people think if they can get what they want and when they want it, they will be happy. However, they are mistaken because it is rare to get everything you want firstly and when you want it. You won’t learn to appreciate anything if you were handed everything on a silver platter, and that certainly will not make you happy.

When you are in difficult situations, you end up having no choice but to look at the small things in life that make you happy, which may turn out to be big things. The vital thing to finding happiness is to find a way to let go and breathe in a situation where you have no control over something, like a pandemic. In addition to that, spreading love and kindness is also about spreading happiness. Paying something kind forward is also the definition of happiness. That means, for instance, you buy a stranger a cup of coffee, and they will do something kind for someone else – and the chain keeps going. That is true happiness. And making smart choices that support your wellbeing is also about happiness.

History Of International Day of Happiness

The story behind International Day of Happiness is that it was established in 2013 by the United Nations because of wanting to recognize how vital happiness is for everyone globally. The purpose of the day is to create goals to help protect the planet, ending poverty, and keeping inequality at bay. Those are the three key components of life that have a tie to happiness and everyone’s wellbeing. And each year on International Day of Happiness, the United Nations wants everyone from any walk of life and regardless of age to celebrate the importance of being happy. And they encourage everyone to help make a positive difference.
