The story behind International Day of Happiness is that it was established in 2013 by the United Nations because of wanting to recognize how vital happiness is for everyone globally. The purpose of the day is to create goals to help protect the planet, ending poverty, and keeping inequality at bay. Those are the three key components of life that have a tie to happiness and everyone’s wellbeing. And each year on International Day of Happiness, the United Nations wants everyone from any walk of life and regardless of age to celebrate the importance of being happy. And they encourage everyone to help make a positive difference.
