When you read the comics when you were younger or watched cartoons, did you read the comics about Garfield the Cat or watch the cartoon about that lovable character? There is always a soft spot found in everyone about that cat, and there is a day to celebrate him, which is Garfield The Cat Day.

June 19th is the day you celebrate the fictional but famous cat Garfield because it is Garfield The Cat Day. Jim Davis is the one who created the comic strip about this cat, Garfield, and it is about a tabby cat that has that name. Garfield has always been entertaining and a lot of fun and even adults still find appeal in reading Garfield comics and watching the cartoons. Over the years, Garfield has gained a lot of popularity.

In Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, Garfield was one of them to show up there. The cartoon was set in Muncie, Indiana, and you could find common themes, including Garfield being lazy and eating lasagna, and drinking coffee. Garfield loved to eat, and it is not a surprise that those who enjoy eating may find that they have something in common with this cat. That is why they find Garfield so appealing. That is also because Garfield disliked diets and Mondays, and usually, you will find Garfield interacting with Odie and Jon. However, he interacted with others in the comics too. So many people can relate themselves to Garfield and the other characters on the strip, which is also why they like it.

The History Of Garfield The Cat Day

Jim Davis launched Garfield on June 19th, 1978, and he named the character after his grandfather, Garfield. The owner Jon Arbuckle and his dog Odie were also commonly seen in the comic. The publication became so popular that in 2013, there was syndication of the comic in 2,580 journals and newspapers. That was a record to the point that it held the Guinness World Record of being the most syndicated comic worldwide. That said, it is not a surprise that there is a day dedicated to Garfield, the cat, and that is why now we have Garfield The Cat Day.
