The Eiffel Tower is one of the most visited landmarks in Europe as over 250 million people have visited the historic landmark. That also means the average number of people who see it yearly is about seven million. That is quite impressive.
There are plenty of cafes and shops around the landmark, but why not go inside the Eiffel Tower when you get there? You can even climb the stairs if you are brave enough to do that. The tower is just over 1,062 feet or 324 meters tall and just over 410 feet or 125 meters wide. The number of stairs that the tower has is 1,665; however, most cannot take that many steps to always take the elevator if you prefer, like most people. However, you do want to get a chance to see this remarkable French landmark that is quite famous. If you don’t visit the Eiffel Tower, you will not enjoy having the French experience while visiting Paris.
History Of Eiffel Tower Day
The Eiffel Tower took two years, two months, and five days to build as the construction began on January 28, 1887, and the completion of the landmark happened on March 31, 1889. The purpose of the tower was for the International Exhibition of Paris, which took place during the French Revolution’s 100th anniversary. The engineer who designed the tower was named Gustave Eiffel, which is how it got its name. Since then, the tower has been known to be a remarkable landmark in Paris and it is the one to always visit if you are going to the City of Lights.
How To Celebrate Eiffel Tower Day
If you are in France, the easy thing is to head over to the Eiffel Tower. However, if not, then celebrate French culture by baking an Eiffel Tower cake or have a French picnic.
